YapperMouse - the Mouse that Talks!
YapperMouse appears and functions like a
regular mouse but turns into a Skype USB phone during Skype
calls.
YapperMouse is designed for notebook users.
Currently the methods for Skype communication on the road are
both limited and cumbersome. Since most mid-range notebooks
today do not feature built-in microphones, notebook travelers
are forced to carry an USB phone and a mouse as they travel.
Even those users that own high-end notebooks with built-in
microphones often carry USB phones because they prefer the
privacy of conversation through a phone versus the public nature
of a conversation through internal notebook microphone and
speakers. For these users, too, YapperMouse makes a lot of
sense.
This is the first time anyone has attempted
such device and here are some technical highlights:
800dpi Optical Sensor from Agilent Technologies
Agilent sensors are ones found on high-end Logitech mice.
Dual Speakers
there are two speakers built-in:
-
the smaller, high-fidelity speaker for phone
operations;
-
the bigger, amplified speaker for speaker-phone
operations;
External Sound Card from C-Media this is the
best, all digital USB sound card on the market. Skype sound
stream is captured by the YapperMouses built-in sound card, so
you can talk on the mouse while listening to music from computer
speakers.
Wide-Angle Microphone
the microphone is strategically placed so that it lies near
your mouth in phone mode while uncovered in speaker-phone mode.
Vibration Motor
YapperMouse vibrates during an incoming call, just like cell
phones.
Auto Sensor Shut-Off
the optical sensor would automatically shut-off during calls
to avoid eye-flares. Of course, if you choose the speaker-phone
mode, the sensor would turn on again so that you can talk and
browse at the same time.
Velvet Surface
Materials the premium surface make YapperMouse
a pleasure to hold, even after hours of gossips.
Amy Software
the Amy software gives Skype voicemail, delayed messaging,
alarm, chained caller-ID, and more to the YapperMouse hardware.
