Australian and New Zealand launch of the revolutionary
new RTX 3088 cordless Skype™
DUALphone, the world’s first cordless
dual phone for Skype™ that does not require a PC
connection.
IW Distribution is launching the new
RTX DUALphone 3088 which can be used for calling via
Skype™ without the need to be connected to a PC. The
new DUALphone is ideal for those people who do not
always keep their PC turned on and connected to the
Internet, or who do not want or are prohibited from
connecting to Skype from their PC.
The DUALphone 3088 removes the need
to be connected to a computer when making Skype calls
and all that is needed is to connect the base of the RTX
3088 to a broadband Internet connection. The phone
also allows the user to decide whether to make a free
call via the Internet between Skype users, or to use the
regular landline connection. As Skype does not support
emergency calls this land-line option is an important
addition to the product.
As well as freeing users from the PC,
the DUALphone has a simple Skype user interface and
possesses nearly all Skype voice features for which
Skype software is known. Easy-to-use and plug-and-dial
handsets are a key driver in growing Skype’s global
customer base, which currently stands at over 136
million users. “The former USB Cordless DUALphone was
our first Skype Certified™ USB cordless handset,” said
Manrique Brenes, director of Hardware Business
Development at Skype. “It has been available for three
years and has been a very successful phone. We are
therefore delighted to join RTX in taking Internet calls
a step further with cordless embedded phones for Skype.”
The phone base station is easy to
connect to the broadband router and the PSTN phone line
and requires no technical knowledge. Some added
benefits of the new DUALphone 3088 include a colour
display and an operating time of more than 10 hours of
talk time as well as up to 140 hours at standby.

Availability
The DUALphone 3088 will be available
from IW Distribution from mid-December. The recommended
retail price will be A$299 incl. GST and NZ$369
including VAT.
